The Fraysexuals: A New Breed of Woman

Hello Ladies!

They're single, they're smart, and they're successful.

They're also fiercely independent and refuse to settle for anything less than the best. They're the new breed of woman: the fraysexuals.

What is a fraysexual, you might ask? A fraysexual is a woman who is comfortable being single and doesn't feel the need to be in a relationship just for the sake of being in one. She's strong, confident, and knows what she wants out of life. And she's not afraid to go after it.

The term "fraysexual" was coined by author Kate Bolick in her book Spinster: Making a Life of One's Own.

In it, Bolick explores the lives of six unmarried women from history who made their mark on the world without ever tying the knot. These women include Jane Austen, George Eliot, Edith Wharton, Mae West, Katherine Mansfield, and Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

Bolick herself is a self-proclaimed fraysexual and writes about how she came to accept her single status after years of feeling like something was wrong with her for not wanting to get married and have kids like everyone else. "I realized that it was time to stop blaming myself—and start reclaiming spinsterhood," she writes.

If you're a woman who has always felt like you don't fit into society's mold of what a woman should be, then you might just be a fraysexual too. Here are five signs that you might be part of this new breed of woman:

Denim Jackets - Jenston Girl

You're comfortable being alone.

You don't feel the need to be in a relationship just for the sake of being in one. You're happy with your own company and don't feel like you need someone else to complete you.

You're ambitious and driven.

You know what you want out of life and you're not afraid to go after it. You don't let anyone or anything stand in your way.

You're not interested in traditional gender roles.

You don't believe that there are certain things that only men can do or that only women can do. You'll do whatever it takes to get where you want to be—regardless of whether or not it's considered "feminine."

You don't conform to societal norms.

You march to the beat of your own drum and couldn't care less about what other people think of you. You live your life on your own terms—not anyone else's.

You're happy being single—and you're not afraid to show it! You love your life just the way it is and wouldn't change it for anything (or anyone). And why should you? You're living proof that being single doesn't mean being unhappy or unfulfilled.

If any (or all) of these things sound like you, then congratulations—you might just be a fraysexual! These days, more and more women are rejecting traditional gender roles and choosing to live their lives on their own terms. So if you're happy being single and don't feel the need to conform to societal norms, then embrace your inner fraysexual! After all, there's nothing wrong with being part of this new breed of woman—in fact, it's something to be celebrated! Until Next Time!...XOXO 🍁🧡🍂
